According to Keith Montgomery, 4/29FA sent two platoons in support of Desert Storm; A 2d Platoon and C 2d Platoon. SPC Thomas, James B. (?) and Keith were sent from C 1st Platoon to accompany the 2d Platoon and were assigned to SSG Ocasio's section. After arriving at the KKMC, the two platoons were broken into sections and sent to different units. SSG Ocasio's section was sent to the 42d Brigade FA and from there to the 2/29. There they were greeted by the Battalion Commander who informed SSG Ocasio that he had turned the "float" ammo track into a Command vehicle and that he was to man the float gun with a five man crew. That crew was: SSG Ocasio; Gunner, SGT Ross; Asst Gunner, SPC James B. Thomas; #1 cannoneer and advanced party, PFC Keith H. Montgomery; driver/powder, PVT Albert B. Brautigam. This crew was attached to 2/29 from 1FEB91 to 31APR91 when they returned to the 4/29 FA in Baumholder, Germany.
